CERT & Emer Prep Info

CERT or “Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is a national program to train citizens to help fill the gap between a disaster or emergency and the arrival of professional services.   In the event of a major disaster, our first responders will be overwhelmed so it's critical citizens be prepared to take care of themselves, their neighbors, and their community for 5-7 days.   CERT training teaches you how to help after a disaster."

Residents should have:

  • A “10 in 10” list prepared and “Grab & Go” bag at the ready
  • 1 gallon/water/day/family member
  • Know how to shutoff your utilities
  • A battery operated radio w/ extra batteries
  • Consider the 5 P’s of Evacuation:  1) People/Pets 2) Prescriptions 3) Papers 4) Personal Needs and 5) Priceless Items

Given where we live, our CERT team were trained for the most likely, which would be an earthquake or a fire.  The latter could possibly necessitate quick evacuation via our Evacuation Route Plan!  Please take time to read the handouts!
